Career
She appeared in the comedy-family and science fiction series, My Best Friend Is an Alien in 1999. She appeared in nine episodes of the series. Likewise, she received her breakthrough moment in her career in 2001. She played in the Canadian teen drama television series Degrassi: The Next Generation where she played the role of Alex Nunez. This series is the fourth installment in the Degrassi franchise. Deanna initially auditioned for two characters named Ashley Kerwin and Paige Michalchuk.
This series franchise premiered in CBC, which had a huge cast in a different franchise. They are Cathy Keenan, Dayo Ade, Amanda Stepto, Nicole Stoffman, Pat Mastroianni, Stacie Mistysyn, Siluck Saysanasy, Shay Mitchell, Duncan Waugh, Genelle Williams, Kirsten Bourne, Stefan Brogren, Jamie Johnston, Nina Dobrev, and many more. Furthermore, her recent work includes a web show called ‘Hooking Up’ where she played the role of Emily. She has also appeared in the small role in ‘They Come Back,’ a Lifetime original film in 2007.
Deanna Casaluce received the Young Artist Award for her acting role in Degrassi: The Next Generation in 2006. She received this nomination under Best Young Ensemble Performance in a TV Series (Comedy or Drama). This nomination is shared alongside her co-stars, Dalmar Abuzeid, Sarah Barrable-Tishauer, John Bregar, Daniel Clark, and others.
She originally auditioned for the parts of both Paige Michalchuk and Ashley Kerwin. Three years later, the casting director called her to play the role of Alex.
She played major supporting characters in seasons 3 and 4, and finally was credited as a regular character for seasons 5 and 6, and guest starred in season 7. Deanna stated that season 7 would be her last season on Degrassi, because she was moving to Los Angeles to further her acting career in film.
She was a series regular on “I Was a Sixth Grade Alien“.
In 2007, she starred in a Lifetime movie, Devil’s Diary, alongside Degrassi actress Miriam McDonald and Alexz Johnson from Instant Star.
